Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa takes to the track

Alfa Romeo has completed a new round of testing for the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa at the Balocco Proving Ground in Italy. Limited to just 10 examples worldwide, all of which have already been sold, the special series model was tested at the historic circuit where Alfa Romeo has developed its high-performance vehicles and racing cars since 1962.

The tests run on the Balocco track have transformed the fine-tuning and virtual decision-making based on computational aerodynamics into driving sensations, an integral part of the development cycle of the Alfa Romeo DNA.

In Brief
  • The Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa has completed testing at the iconic Balocco Proving Ground, where Alfa Romeo high-performance models have been developed since 1962
  • Developed as part of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE programme, the limited-edition model is the first product created through the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa
  • The saloon is the most aerodynamically efficient Quadrifoglio model ever, with a bespoke carbon-fibre kit that generates up to 140kg of downforce at 186mph, with an aerodynamic load five times higher than the standard version
  • Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa will be displayed at the Luna Rossa base in Cagliari during the Preliminary Regatta in Sardinia from 21-24 May

Created as part of the Alfa Romeo BOTTEGAFUORISERIE programme, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa is the first vehicle developed through the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa ahead of the 38th America’s Cup.

The latest testing programme focused on aerodynamic development and high-speed performance. The Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa features a new carbon-fibre aerodynamic package, including revised front bumper elements, dedicated side skirts, underbody profiles and a rear wing. Together, the package generates up to 140kg of downforce at 186mph, delivering significantly increased aerodynamic load compared with the standard Quadrifoglio.

The exterior design takes inspiration from the Luna Rossa AC75 yacht that competed in the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona in 2024. A two-tone finish combines black bonnet, roof and rear sections with a grey iridescent exterior colour, while red Alfa Romeo logos in red reference the shared sporting heritage of both brands.

Inside, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa features bespoke Sparco seats upholstered with textures and graphics inspired by the Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) used by the boat’s crew. The dashboard is bespoke and features the original sail material from the 2024 boat, further linking the car to the world of competitive sailing.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa will next be displayed at the Luna Rossa base in Cagliari during the Preliminary Regatta Sardinia, taking place from 21–24 May, as Luna Rossa continues preparations for the 38th America’s Cup in Naples in 2027.
