History
Cadwell Park began life in 1934 when local landowner Mansfield Wilkinson converted the roads surrounding his estate into a small racing circuit.
Initially created for motorcycle competition, the venue gradually expanded through several extensions during the post-war years, eventually forming the challenging Grand Prix layout used today.
Although Cadwell Park has never hosted Formula One, it has earned international recognition through motorcycle racing. The circuit has become synonymous with the British Superbike Championship, where its dramatic Mountain section produces some of the most spectacular moments in modern motorsport.
Today the circuit is operated by MotorSport Vision and continues to host one of Britain’s busiest calendars of motorcycle and club racing.
Circuit Design
The full Grand Prix circuit measures 3.530 kilometres and consists of 11 corners, arranged in a clockwise direction.
Rather than being designed on level ground, Cadwell Park follows the natural contours of the Lincolnshire landscape. Steep climbs, sudden descents, blind crests and rapidly changing cambers demand constant concentration, while the circuit’s relatively narrow width leaves little room for correction.
Fast flowing corners blend seamlessly into slower technical sections, rewarding competitors capable of maintaining rhythm through continuous elevation changes. Every lap feels closer to a traditional road course than a modern permanent racing circuit.

The character changes again approaching The Mountain, where the steep climb and crest can lift motorcycles completely clear of the surface, before Hall Bends lead competitors through a narrow, flowing woodland sequence towards the final corner at Barn.
Although The Mountain provides Cadwell Park with its most recognisable image, the circuit’s greater challenge comes from linking its constantly changing gradients and direction changes without disturbing momentum. Drivers and riders who remain smooth through the narrow sections, anticipate corners hidden by the terrain and maintain confidence as the circuit rises and falls are generally rewarded most strongly.
