History
The idea behind Balaton Park Circuit emerged from Hungary’s ambition to expand its role within international motorsport beyond the long-established Hungaroring.
Construction began during the early 2020s with the objective of creating a world-class facility capable of hosting both FIA and FIM championships. Rather than focusing exclusively on one discipline, the project embraced flexibility from the outset, allowing the venue to support GT racing, touring cars, motorcycles, endurance competition, manufacturer programmes and private customer experiences.
Following its official opening in 2023, the circuit rapidly attracted international attention. Investments continued to secure the highest international safety certifications, enabling the venue to welcome increasingly prestigious championships, including MotoGP and the World Superbike Championship from 2025 onward.
Balaton Park therefore represents not only a new circuit but also Hungary’s expanding presence within global motorsport.

Balaton Park Circuit measures 4.115 kilometres in its principal international configuration and has been designed around versatility rather than specialisation.
The layout combines long acceleration zones with technical braking areas, medium-speed flowing corners and slower hairpins, producing balanced racing for a wide variety of vehicle categories. Numerous alternative layouts allow organisers to adapt the circuit for testing, club competition, driver training and manufacturer events without compromising the main international configuration.

Balaton Park Circuit is defined by a modern, compact layout that combines strong braking zones, closely connected technical sections and relatively short acceleration phases. Its predominantly flat character places the emphasis firmly on accurate positioning and mechanical grip, while the frequency of corners means that maintaining rhythm is more important than relying on a small number of spectacular high-speed turns.
The opening sector establishes this character immediately, with heavy braking at the end of the main straight followed by a sequence where a clean exit is essential for positioning the car or motorcycle for the corners that follow. Through the middle of the lap, repeated changes of direction reward a balanced chassis and disciplined inputs, while several slower corners place particular emphasis on traction. The final section continues the technical character before competitors accelerate back towards the start-finish straight.
Rather than being defined by one internationally recognised signature corner, Balaton Park creates its challenge through precision and continuity across the complete lap. Drivers and riders who avoid over-attacking individual turns, maintain consistent positioning through its interconnected sequences and maximise traction from the slower corners are generally rewarded most strongly.
